The CoMo audition will consist of participating in a company rehearsal - warmup and learning repertoire.
The Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company's twelfth season runs from March 2024–February 2025. CoMo provides an opportunity to pursue a professional dance career part-time while pursuing other life passions or careers. Dancers are provided with a small performance stipend. Hourly paid teaching opportunities may be available on occasion throughout the year. A contract will be provided to outline expectations and performance opportunities for the season.
CoMo Dance Company produces an average of three full-length productions annually and performs at many other community events. Dancers are provided with company technique classes, admission to CoMo's weekly adult modern dance class (not required), opportunities to choreograph, and participation in weekend guest artist residencies. CoMo works with regional and national guest artists to commission works on the Company.
The Columbus Modern Dance Company currently rehearses Monday & Wednesday evenings at Dublin Dance Centre & Gymnastics from 8:30-10pm. Dancers who can only commit to one day will still be considered. An unpaid virtual company rehearses on Tuesday evenings online from 8:30-10pm for dancers not located in Columbus, OH.
CoMo Dancers should be already based in or near Columbus, OH (or planning to move here for another opportunity). Our performers hold degrees in dance or equivalent training from universities such as Ohio State, Miami University, George Mason University, University of Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s College, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and many more.
Apprentice positions are also available by audition for high school students.
